You know how trends lose their cool by virtue of mass loserish appeal? Like, how Borat and Napoleon Dynamite were cool for about half an hour, until the schmuck in the cubicle next you who wears novelty ties and ends every goddamn statement with a high five began wearing "Vote for Pedro" t-shirts and adding "Gosh," and "Verrry Niiice," to their arsenal of witticisms, right along with "You're money, baby," and "Groovy, Baby," all of which he used as a subtext to sexually harass his female co-workers?
Yeah -- well, that schmuck is now Skank Cancer (pictured above). Three days into the Writer's Strike, Katherine Heigl jumped into the picket lines, less out of solidarity with the writers, and more because, well, it's the cool thing to do. So, Skank Cancer will do the rounds for an hour or two, get her picture taken, and -- of course -- run back to her cozy hospital set and continue filming scenes that have already been written for her.
Cool people halt production (see Steve Carell). Schmucks do it for the photo op.

Actually I think it has more to do with solidarity with the writers. The entire Grey's cast joined the picket - and unsurprisingly the media were there. Why single out Heigl? Just a nasty and vindictive comment for no good reason from what I can see.
In fact Katherine being a producer herself and owning a production company with several projects on the horizon is probably in the best position as she can see the situation from both sides - having both to act to a script and also pay writers.
I have to agree with Paul. This is senselessly nasty, and IMHO has no merit whatsoever. I enjoy biting wit, but I don't think that she's done anything to deserve your wrath. Save it for the countless losers out there who truly DON'T care about anyone other than themselves, and give some credit to those who at least try.

How do you know her reasons for joining the picket line? Because she is honoring her contract and working? I think Steve Carell is more the exception than the rule.
I can only imagine the reaction if KH was the only actor from Grey's to not join the picket line. I guess she just can't win, regardless of what she does.
If she is in such a great position, and is so involved in this movement, then why doesn't she just pay her writers extra as an example to the rest of the industry?
I'm gonna side with the phrase as is. Something about her just screams college protester. She's doing it for the publicity, the pot, or the after party.
This article is true. Celebs do it for publicity. she's even wearing her fucking scrubs in the damn photo. Hot off the set but cold as ice.
