Always the exemplification of ladylike class and elegance -- Amy Winehouse, after winning the Artists' Choice Award last night at the MTV Europe Music Awards,
accepted the honor with a gracious "
Um, thanks."
Um, you're
welcome, bitch.
''She clammed up, she had a moment there and didn't say anything (on the microphone), which is a little sad,'' R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe, who presented the honor to Winehouse, told AP Television News after Thursday's event.
Good one, Stipey. It
is a little sad. It's also a little pathetic, a little disrespectful, a little insulting, and a
lot ungrateful. Later Ms Winehouse slurred her way through a rendition of "Back to Black," but I'm surprised she didn't just dry heave into the microphone for five minutes before flipping off her fans and stumbling offstage. I guess a girl's got to have
some standards.

Ironically this was probably the best speech of the night. If I have to hear another "artiste" talk about his/her gratitude towards god and producers for allowing him/her to pollute the airwaves I WILL PUKE.
Well played you hideous coke beast, well played.
Can't we shun asshole junkies already ?
In fairness, it was the MTV Europe Music Awards. She may have been rendered speechless by the sheer ennui caused by the mere existence of such an event. Maybe she was offering a helpful silence, e.g., "I'm refraining from talking about what a meaningless, empty 'honor' this is."
Naahhh, who am I kidding. She's a junkie monkey.
