Dress Up
Dress Up: (Verb) Put on clothes or costume appropriate for a formal occasion.I think The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala is my favorite of all the celebrity fashion events. All the outfits are always really fun and flamboyant, and there's no pretense of having some boring awards ceremony getting in the way like at the stupid Oscars or something. Yawn. (I'm probably getting fired from Pajiba as we speak.) At any rate, going by this logic you know who else loves the Costume Institute Gala? That's right, the Olsen twins! Since they don't actually do anything but show up to dress up events anymore, this gala is pretty much the apex of their existences. As you can see, Mary Kate dressed to the occasion with her finest sparkly gold 70's muumuu; and Ashley used it as an excuse to show off her smokin preteen bod in this slinky black number with sex-tegically placed cutouts.
Tom even looks like more of a dandy than usual and Katie looks more brainwashed than usual. That Scientology boot camp must have really paid off. Her dress is gorgeous, naturally, but I don't know about those shoes.
J Lo's dress is really pretty closeup but from far away it looks like it's made of denim, snerk! And Posh dressed up as "Generic Animated Disney Feature Villain" for this year's gala:
Christina Ricci's dress resembles an "I Dream of Jeannie" costume from Spencer's Gifts:
What a shocker, Beyonce in a mermaid dress! She's totally pregnant, too.
In the Giant Purple Dress Competition, Maggie Gyllenhaal was the clear winner, while Eva Longoria later collapsed under the weight of hers:
And finally, overall ugliest awards go to Mischa Barton for whatever the fuck you call this mess, Kate Bosworth who pretty much disappears when she turns sideways, Amanda Peet for her tie-dyed puke dress and Kimora Lee for her gown made out of wallpaper from a Mexican restaurant.

Someone's going to think I'm joking, but I honestly didn't recognize the Olsen twins with smiles on their faces.
Has Ashley Olsen's face ALWAYS looked like that? It's very unfortunate looking. Is it because of the swept back hair? She looks about 40 years old, and why is she so much taller than Mary Kate? I thought MK was in flats and Ashley was in heels, but MK has some pretty big heels on as it is.
The biggest question: why am I being made to think about the damn Olsen twins so much?
Kate Bosworth's shoes are awesome, though. And so are Young Mother Hubbard's, but not with that dress; maybe this is her secret way of auditioning for that coveted Wonder Woman role?
Ashley & Mr. Cruise obviously shop in the same shoe dept.
