Cushion for the Pushin'

slide1244.jpgCushion for the Pushin' (Expression) A term used to describe a particularly shape and large posterior, usually found on attractive, voluptuous women.

By now you've probably seen the Before and After photos of Jennifer Love Hewitt, who has lost 18 pounds over the last 10 weeks (or so she says in Us Magazine). The angle most gossip bloggers are taking is fair: She kvetched and kvetched about how not ashamed of her body she was, how she was proud of her figure, and how it was OK not to be a rail with boobs for the cameras and then she turns around and loses nearly 20 lbs, which seems an obvious concession to the assholes who took her to task for those supposedly aesthetically unpleasing beach photos the paparazzi took a few months ago.

But what most people are missing is a more obvious point, at least from what can be gleaned from the before and after photos above, and that is: She actually looked better with a little meat on her bones. And I'm not just saying that to win brownie points from our average-sized female readers. I legitimately mean it: She looked better when her body could actually hold up a bikini. Now, her head looks too big for her body, her chest has lost its bang-zoom, and her fab-ass isn't nearly as fab. My apologies for borrowing a phrase from our misogynistic brethren, but she's lost that cushion for the pushin'.

But more than that, she's sold out to the very idea that she once rebelled against: That you have to be 36 x 26 x 36 to succeed, at least to the extent that her minimal talent allows. J. Love is a pretty woman, but she was a lot prettier when she was a woman and not a poster girl for waifism.

Well, to be fair, this is about the eleventeen thousandth time I've seen some overweight actress act all proud and defiant about her looks and then turn around and take slimming down to the xtreme.

I don't know if they were lying before, or they changed their minds or they bent under pressure or what, but yeah. Happens all the time.

I agree that she looked better with that junk in her trunk.

Tyra started it, when she went on that "kiss my fat ass" publicity tour. What a noisy, shrill week that was.

I agree, J.Love should've kept her brownie points with the public, since it was the one thing she had going for her.

Keep in mind that she probably lost it for her wedding... which pretty much every woman does.

Very true. Normally in those before/after pics you look at the "before" picture and shudder, and swear to stop eating lest you become the behemoth staring back at you. Here, it's just like, uhhh, okay. What's wrong with the way she looked before? Save those momma shorts. Good LORD those are doing her uterus no favors.

To further play devil's advocate, during this period when she was trumpeting her pride in her curves, weren't people STILL insulting her? Especially when she made her "size 2 is not fat" remark (which people took all out of context, since she never said she was a size 2, just that any woman that was should be considered overweight).

So maybe it just got to her. She got sick and tired of folks ragging on her, even when she tried to make it into a positive, and decided to cave in. Only now, some of those same folks that was dissing her about her weight are now callingher a hypocrite for basically doing what they were demanding from her.

Oh, and so you don't think me that mature or anything:

I never wavered from my opinion that she was hotter when she had more bounce with the ounce.

Ummm.... 36-26-36 are more like Kim Kardasians measurements. Nowadays it would be more like 30-18-30 or something smaller like that...unless you have fake boobs and then it would be 36-18-30 or whatever a stick with boobs would be. I think the after pic is totally photoshopped. On another site, they show some pics of her on set at the ghost whisperer and she looks thinner but not like a pole. Im sooooooooo tired of talking about anyones weight...mehhhh...

The first thing I thought when I heard about this and saw the pics was that she did it for her upcoming wedding, like 99% of women tend to do.
She looks great either way, IMHO
